The Capital Challenge Equitation Championship Weekend
This is the weekend for the THIS National Children’s Medal Finals as well as the North American Equitation
Championships. If you’re looking for big eq, Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is the place to be. Take note from the prize list: “ALL ENTRIES ARE TAKEN ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. Entries close August, 23, 2010. A non refundable processing fee of $100 per horse, a $75 entry deposit per horse, and all stall fees ($300 per stall) must accompany all entries.” That’s $475 before you’ve even licked an envelope.

The New England Equitation Championships
Eastern States Coliseum, West Springfield, MA
This regional equitation championship has become one of the most prestigious and competitive equitation finals in the country.
At 3′-3’3″ it’s an equitation final that’s still accessible to a wide range of riders, with more than 160 from eight states qualifying. This show stays competitive without taking itself too seriously. Check out the Challenge of the States competition–where state teams compete against each other in costumes worthy of any self-respecting fraternity Halloween party. And don’t leave without eating a $10 caramel apple. Yes, it’s worth every penny.
